Experience Aboriginal Art and Culture

From the dramatic rock art of the north and bark paintings of Arnhem Land to the etchings from the Torres Strait and the striking dot art of Central Australia, there are so many styles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art to discover.

Many of these art forms are recognised the world over and there are numerous sites and art centres where you can experience these stunning works of art. While admiring the beauty of these works is a treat in itself, a guide will help you understand the layers of meaning in each work and give you a whole new level of appreciation of the art and the artists behind them.

If you’d like to try your own hand at creating something of your own, you might even like to join an art workshop. Otherwise there are plenty of opportunities to add something special to your collection by purchasing a work of art from one of the many reputable community art centres or galleries (it’s always best to buy from a recognised outlet to ensure you are supporting local artists).
