Day 1: Darwin to Nitmiluk National Park - Nabilil Dreaming Sunset Cultural Cruise with Nitmiluk Tours

Check out of your Darwin hotel and pick up your hire car for the four hour drive south to Katherine for lunch then onward for a further 30 minutes into the Nitmiluk National Park. On arrival, check in to your chalet accommodation and relax whilst you familiarise yourself with the stunning surroundings until it is time to depart for your Nabilil Dreaming Sunset Cultural Cruise at 4:30pm.

Marvel at the spectacular tranquil surroundings as you are transported into the spiritual world of Jawoyn culture and history. Discover the stories and ways of the Jawoyn against a magnificent backdrop of cliff faces changing colour with the setting sun.

Experience the spectacular beauty of the gorge by candlelight whilst enjoying delicious Australian cuisine and stargazing at one of the best night skies in the Southern Hemisphere.

Day 2: Nitmiluk National Park to Darwin

Enjoy breakfast at the Nitmiluk restaurant with spectacular views over the Nitmiluk Gorge before going on a fascinating bush tucker tour.

Travel in the footsteps of the Jawoyn people as you are guided through nature’s pantry.

Discover the ways the Jawoyn survived this harsh terrain for thousands of years using their knowledge of native animals and plants.

On this excursion you will learn about both the Jawoyn traditional uses and about Aboriginal contemporary use of native bush foods.

Enjoy lunch in the park or on the way back to Darwin (drive time approximately 4.5 hours).
